After an everlasting approach with his debut album The Rebirth, singer-songwriter Eric Bellinger is back with The Rebirth 2. The Compton native teased his ‘Bellringers’ with several songs early January. Now, the wait is over and he’s back to finish what he’s started.
As the grandson to Jackson 5 songwriter Bobby Day, music has been and continues to be Bellinger’s national anthem. Surprisingly, even a full-ride football scholarship to University of Southern California could stop him from his desire towards singing. Initially, Bellinger’s began recording with trio AKNU (pronounced ‘anew’; A Kind Never Understood). Through his work, he gained recognition and co-wrote for acts such as Usher, Chris Brown, and Jennifer Hudson. LA native and rapper The Game teamed up with Bellinger, where he also contributed on The Game’s Death Penaltyand The Documentary 2. Throughout his success and recognition, Bellinger continues to offer his fans stirring projects and releases that keeps everyone coming for more.
As you may have guessed by the title, The Rebirth 2 is the extension of The Rebirth. The album cover features Bellinger wearing virtual reality glasses. Assumingely, this foreshadows the future and modern sounds to expect on this project. This time around, Bellinger is still better than ever, with a few essential similarities. Bellinger’s homage to Compton is always apparent on every project release. He teams up with LA champions Nipsey Hussle and Dom Kennedy to help bring to light the talent that this city thrives in. The healthy 32-track double-sided project features contributions from Ne-Yo, Problem, Ma$e, Bj The Chicago Kid and more.
Based on past efforts, we can expect to hear more from Bellinger throughout the year. His ambition and hard work always pay off, and the projects’ keep the momentum going. For more Bellinger, stay up to date on Twitter , Soundcloud, and Instagram.
