Set on the gritty backdrop on what sounds like an old record player, Iman Europe’s latest single, Time, is a mix of old and new.
The track begins with acoustic sounds of piano and guitar, which set the stage for Iman’s powerful voice to shine. Time sounds like an R&B song, but it takes the genre and adds a modern take. Funnily enough, part of what makes it modern is that Iman uses instrumentals and grittiness that take us back in time. The track is certainly aptly named, as it deals with the circuitous nature of time. Things seem to come back around, as Iman sings, “In time you’ll come right back to me, you know I’m right”. She sings of a lover who she’s giving the space to find themselves, but with the one caveat: don’t waste her time.
Iman is a multitalented artist, and she exhibits that fact in this track. She’s able to sing smoothly and hypnotically as well as rap powerfully. She’s able to do it all, and that’s why no one should be wasting her time. Iman knows her power. She has a cool confidence about her that’s clear in the song. She shows that she’s above the pettiness of simple relationship drama and rather focuses on the bigger picture.
Iman is an LA-based singer/songwriter, as one may be able to tell from the laid-back vibe of the track. She’s worked with artists such as Dave East, ill Camille, StarRo, SIR and others. She says she’s inspired by artists such as Andre 3000, Erykah Badu, Kanye West, John Legend, and Beyonce. Additionally, her music has been featured on the official Spotify playlist of the popular HBO show, Insecure. There’s certainly big things in store for Iman Europe.
