On Wednesday August 31st, CAQ Records caught up with Justin Reed. He is the co-founder and designer of the clothing line Misfits Rebellion.
We received the inside scoop about the brand at the Anti-Venue tour, where the featured brand held a pop-up shop.
Misfits Rebellion started in 2014 and has been in business for 2 years.
The main goal of the rising brand is to bring diversity back to the fashion industry.
What does art mean to you?
Wow. Art is everything for me personally. It’s the only thing that keeps me from feeling like I’m going crazy. No matter if my day is going good or bad, happy or sad, I know I can just dive into my sketch pad and zone out. Creating artwork that I feel like means something to people is meaningful to me because it gives you the opportunity to sway people’s emotions and their train of thought in a direction to see your vision through your eyes based off of what it is that you painted and what came out of your mind. I wouldn’t really give up this gift for anything else to be honest.
When did you start as an artist?
I started drawing when I was about 4 or 5 years old.
My personal favorite was something we dropped last winter. Frozen Navy Blue Long Sleeve Tee. Navy blue is one of my favorite colors. I’m a real big fan of the dad caps we dropped. Especially the denim one but black is the color I find myself wearing the most, it gets the most wear and tear.
More Info on Misfits Rebellion:
Our mascot Khaos symbolizes everything that we are working for. We’re not here to try to fit in with anybody else. Our mission statement is “Fitting in is a short-term goal, standing out is a lifetime achievement” and that’s something that we stick too.
