NEW ORLEANS MUSIC SCENE ALIVE WITH MC JABBAR AT THE HELM.
New Orleans MC Jabbar has been making a name for himself lately.
Since the early 90’s, NOLA has been a musical hub for artists like No Limit, Cash Money, and Curren$y.
Now, rapper Jabbar looks to keep this tradition alive with his newest project, Out On Bond II.
The follow up to his 2015 project, Out On Bond, the sequel continues his signature flow.
Out On Bond II takes listeners to The Big Easy but gives you a look into New Orleans rougher sections.
The project features Bounce, which is New Orleans signature sound, but also diverse production.
Out of all 7 tracks, tracks 2, 3, and 7 really stand out.
Track 2, Higher Power, stands out for Jabbar’s wordplay and lyrical prowess. We actually witness Jabbar express his thoughts while exposing everyday life in New Orleans.
“I’m a Hotboy/ Shoutout my cliental/ Shoutout my power thats where I prevail” gives props to his New Orleans lineage.
Track 3, Brushing off the Pain features signature New Orleans sound, reminiscent of the days of No Limit and Cash Money.
New Orleans artist has a signature sound that differs from the rest of the region, and Jabbar represents that in every way.
Production wise he never strays far from home, but lyrics-wise he isn’t afraid to show his influence.
While he is a New Orleans MC, he shows a heavy Trap influence, which keeps him in tune with the crowds of today.
Track 7, Nobody, is perhaps my favorite track. Jabbar proves how diverse he is, lyrically and beat wise.
Jabbar is an underrated MC, and Out On Bond II proves that he has much potential while keeping New Orleans musical tradition alive.
One thing is for sure, New Orleans is still Bout It Bout It.
