Transitioning into Woman’s History Month, R&B artist Lorine Chia has contributed to the movement with the release of “Black Girl Magic”. This song isn’t only propelling the movement of black women around the world but is also deeply rooted in her African heritage. The songstress teamed up with fresh artist Billie Mitchell and longtime friend Givtyd to make this masterpiece.

The Cameroon-born star is never ashamed to dress her music with influences from her culture. At a time where black women are becoming more powerful than ever, it’s important that we shine a light on the subject matter.

“Black Girl Magic” starts off with soft piano keys, then leads in with Chia crooning along with 808s to complete the tune. “We went take over the world, can’t nobody stops us, ” the song says, the main message the links the meaning of hashtag anthem. In a world where a woman of color are often slandered, Chia lets us know that we are indeed magical, and can conquer all that we wish, even if that means taking over the world. “Black Girl Magic” is nothing but chill vibes, coated with Chia and Billie Mitchell rhyming on the beat.

Although the world doesn’t always give us the acknowledge we deserve, “Black Girl Magic” is meant as a celebration of our unique identity. To you, my fellow black girls: We need to appreciate ourselves and each other. Let’s reclaim our narrative. Keep going, push through, and show everyone how immaculate you are. Take pride in your heritage. You are powerful. You are valuable. You are special. No one can stop you, and don’t ever let anyone make you feel like you’re wrong for being so magical.”
