R&B artist SiR debuts “Ooh Nah Nah” and looks to establish himself as LA’s premier R&B artist.
Born Darryl Davis in Los Angeles, CA, SiR is the son of church singers, and is the nephew of Andrew Gouche, who performed with the late Prince.
SiR started writing music and recording early in his teens, but quit after deciding music wasn’t for him.
“I didn’t think it was for me, and I figured that I had a better chance playing ball and being a kid instead of doing what my parents felt was best for me.
He soon decided to get back in the studio and got a degree in recording arts. His hard work soon paid off, as he soon worked with Letoya Luckett and R&B Legend Anita Baker.
“She let me play some of my music before we started working, and when I played my stuff she sorta flipped out” said Sir of his recording session with Anita Baker.
In 2015, he released his debut album, Seven Sundays on iTunes and a live version on his Soundcloud account.
This year promises to be a big one for SiR, after the recent announcement that he is TDE’s latest signee, he’s sure to have a whole new set of eyes on him now. And his newest singles don’t disappoint.
SiR returned this week with the release of a sultry single titled “Ooh Nah Nah” alongside Virginia vocalist and saxophone player, Masego.
Together the two created an irresistible track. It’s much more seductive and relaxed than the previous single “W$ Boi” and showcases the sort of variety in his music.
SiR is just beginning, and with Los Angeles vibrant R&B scene, he looks to become his city’s top R&B artist.
“Music has always been good to me,” he says. “I just didn’t know it when I was younger.”
