4 College Students turned artists have taken the Jazz/R&B world by storm with their new but rare sound.

Formed in 2015 by 3 college students, Solomons Gardens one goal was to create music for their artists.

They also wanted to create music that was soulful, catchy and would impact the music industry.

The group consists of 4 core members, who each bring their own talents, experience, and taste to form the collective known as Solomon’s Garden.

MKFWI: The founder of the group, a producer, and songwriter. He has been in the music industry for over 10 years. Produced Rock and Roll and Gospel in addition to R&B, and has worked with the likes of John Gallen, Superhero, Guava B, and the list goes on.

Chanel Hemmings: Singer-Songwriter, a triple jumper turned singer with a heart touching mind for lyrics with captivating words.

Erica Torres: Singer-Songwriter and a backing vocalist who decided to take the forefront with her smooth and powerful vocals.

Dan “The Wizz Todd: Producer/ Singer-Songwriter who brings the soul to the group with his rich chord progression and vocals.

‘Welcome To The Garden’ is a sleek, R&B EP, that showcases the group’s production and songwriting prowess.

All 6 tracks are great, but my favourites are Tracks 3, 6, and 2.

Track 2, The One We Called Brother, is a perfect blend of bells, drums, and R&B influence. It also covers love, trust, and finding one’s self. Chanel and Erica provided the perfect mix of singing while Dan’s production is perfect.

Track 3, Ego, showcases how the group takes subject matter and uses it to their advantage to relay their message.

Speaking on the subject of Ego, the song is smooth, filled with Chanel and Erica’s vocals, with Dan adding his own layer of vocals and MKFWI producing.

Track 6, Questions, is my most favourite off  ‘Welcome To The Garden’.

Erica and Chanel each ask the question “Can I disturb this pain/ you were my escape” while Dan and MKFWI killed the production.

‘Welcome To The Garden’ is a good EP no doubt, but Solomons Garden is a rare talented group that should be signed.

Their chemistry is unlike any other group, and they’re one of my favourites.
