Solomons Garden, a British-based neo-soul band, is comprised of a group of hypnotic misfits. Their newly released EP, “From Dust to Gold” is the epitome of just that.
Four very talented vocalists and musicians have come together to speak for their generation. They speak of hardship, of fighting on and do it in an incredibly beautiful way. Their music has a powerful message, but it’s not just that. They create tracks that make you head bop and move around. In fact, I’m doing that as I am writing this now, while I have the EP playing in the background. Their music is wonderfully produced and feels rooted in old school hip hop vibes. At the same time, they have sonic sounds that weaves a slight techno feel thought their tracks. Each member of the group has an incredible voice, and each track takes time to let that shine. Butterflies for example, really lets Dan ‘The Whizz’ Todd’s voice shine. His sound has an absolutely velvety feel to it.
I want to write about which song is my favourite, but as you’ll realize as soon as you listen to this incredible EP, it’s quite a hard task. Right now I think I’m gonna have to go with the last song on the track, Good Things. The lyrics are just so beautiful, “Doesn’t matter what your friends think, loving you is such a pure thing”…”You’re the treasure in my eye”. Each singer dances around one another vocally to create a hypnotic melody. The song is about finding something beautiful and finding a way to make it last.
Solomons Garden is a group that you just have to listen to. Their sound is just so pleasing to hear. The four members that compose this group of misfits have created a special and entirely unique sound.
