Alonge Hawes and the crew of his web series Blue Collar Hustle have good reason to be celebrating the new year. They have recently been honored with six awards at the annual Southern Shorts Awards!
The series was bestowed Awards Of Merit in Directing & Cinematography to Geoffrey Henderson, who directed the series first season. Quentin Williams, who co-stars and serves as the series Music Supervisor, received an Award Of Merit for providing the series soundtrack. Henderson & Hawes received both an Award Of Merit for Production Design and an Award Of Excellence for Sound Design. Hawes also shared an Award Of Merit alongside Henderson, Shani Hawes, Roberto Cruz, and Howard Woodburn as the production team behind the series fifth episode “We Don’t Play Around”.
Blue Collar Hustle has been no stranger to the festival circuit. The series was recently named Best Web Series at both the Urban Mediamakers Film Festival and the London Independent Film Awards. Hawes himself has won awards at both the Festigious Film Festival and The Los Angeles Film Awards for Best Original Story. The first season was recently named by Black Talent TV as one of the 17 Best Web Series Of 2017.
Blue Collar Hustle, which centers around 4 young men attempting to start their own independent record label; is expected to return for a second season later in 2018. The complete first season is available via Youtube, KweliTV, and Seeka.TV.
