SUDAN ARCHIVES

Legendary LA label Stones Throw Records has many big names to boast, but some of their greatest gems are still small – like Sudan Archives.

One of their newer and younger signees, she has just released the experimental and hypnotic “Paid,” the second single from her forthcoming debut EP which releases July 14.

A self-taught violinist and vocalist from Ohio, Sudan Archives has made waves with her sound. The 23-year-old writes, plays, and produces all her own work. She cites “Sudanese fiddlers, R&B, West African rhythms, and experimental electronic music” as her inspirations.

Her skill is in her ability to draw on a wide variety of influences without all of these elements being too overbearing altogether.

The carefully minimalist sound gives a breath of fresh air and good vibes.
