Tiara Thomas “Don’t Mention My Name” EP
Tiara Thomas starts her newest EP, “Don’t Mention My Name” off with “Too Late” giving us this soft, soothing but vulnerable feel as she sings about a past situation with a lover that has gone awry. The soft acoustic arrangement really sets the tone for the message she’s sending on this track, as well as for the remainder of the EP.
I love that Tiara Thomas gives us such a natural, acoustic-like vibe with almost all of her music; it is typically very soulful to say the least. In short, I appreciate the live instrumentation she seems to gravitate towards. In this EP, I can easily spot the acoustic guitars, slight percussion, and bass in the background.
My favorite song from this EP is “Touch Me Tease Me,” originally sung by Case. I love any and all throwbacks, covers, old school R&B samples and remakes so that definitely explains why I immediately found myself jamming out to this particular track.
Thomas gives us a really chill, light vibe with this one. She sings about love and heartbreak all in one. There’s a perfect mixture both of upbeat and mellow tracks, making for a wholesome EP to evoke a little bit of every emotion.
You’re liable to peacefully set something on fire while simultaneously taking a bottle of Crown to the head and smashing out your exes windows while listening to this EP. I love everything about it from the vocals, to the lyrics, to the genius musical arrangement.
