I’ll be the first to say that you guys do sleep on my girl Tinashe.
All that is about to change soon.
Friday morning the multi-talented artist debuted “Nightride,” a surprise release.
Her anticipated LP “Joyride” is still set for a 2017 release, and will be the complete other half of “Nightride.”
On the 15-track album “Nightride,” Tinashe touches on life experiences and more of who she is as a woman. This is her coming of age over progressive production.
“Lucid Dreaming” is a record for the “dreamers” and for those who often feel misunderstood on their journey.
In this opening record, Tinashe touches on a relatable truth and takes a stand for where she’s fated to go.
“I won’t let them take advantage cause I’m way too fucking nice.”
Tinashe knows that if she wants to be who she truly is, she has to do it her way.
“If there’s anything I’ve learned is that it’s up to me.” and “If it’s my life, ain’t nobody gonna tell me how to live it.”
“Lucid Dreaming” is a riveting introduction.
C’est La Vie
Filled with trap-soul instruments and falsettos, C’est La Vie brings a total contrast to “Lucid.”
Tinashe urges her lover to “stay with her” before she leaves the city.
I’m in love with the slowed-up switch up towards the end of the track.
The record contains an R&B sample that sounds like a mix between Tank and Floetry.
This song is silky smooth and possesses a mellow yet buzzy feel.
Tinashe delivers metaphorically. “I’m seeing pink ’cause I been looking at the bright side.”
She reminds me of a modern Sade on Sunburn.
Sacrifices highlights Tinashe at her best. Catchy hooks and freaky lyrics.
The LondonOnTheTrack produced record hints potential lead-single
Tinashe knows how to keep the listeners involved. She has the formula down.
“I’m not like someone I’m supposed to be” she just needs Company. Keep it low-key is what she wants. Just a meet and greet.
No strings attached. True Aquarius behavior. “Company” is one of the lead singles of “Night Ride”
With the trap soul instrumental (2016 trend) and great subject matter, It’s easy to see why this record took the lead.
You Don’t Know Me
Appears to be Tinashe in reverse. Appealing to the title, you don’t know her like you think you do.
You may have a perception of her, but it’s far from who she actually is.
I’m impressed in the various ways Tinashe can alter her voice. Her falsetto is flawless here.
This track makes me want to get to know her.
This track gives me the same vibes such as C’est La Vie and Sunburn due to it’s airy and light vibe.
This is definitely stoner music.
The production on this track differs heavily from the rest of the album. “Touch Pass” sounds like a record from early 2000’s. That reason alone is why I’m a fan. The many styles and facets of her vocal tone packages her as an astute artist.
The project contains 3 interludes well-fitting for the project theme.
Listen to the album, you’ll be impressed.
Tinashe takes her time and always delivers a quality body of work.
